MULTISTAGES 2009 NEW WORKS CONTEST
GUIDELINES
MultiStages, a multicultural, multidisciplinary theatre company located in New York City, is seeking original, unproduced, high quality full-length multidisciplinary plays by established and emerging writers for its fifth New Works Contest. The Contest Winner will receive a Staged Reading with professional actors and/or a fully-staged production at a reputable theatre in New York City under an AEA approved code.
MultiStages produces non-traditional multicultural, multidisciplinary theatre works that incorporate a fusion of art forms rarely found in today’s theatre. These fusions include collaborations with artists working in dance, music composition (including opera), visual arts, puppetry, poetry, multimedia, et al. The submitted script must be multidisciplinary and respect non-traditional casting choices. All productions are subject to development by MultiStages in collaboration with the playwright. Additional information on past contests and winners can be found on our website: www.eljallartsannex.com/multistages.htm.
Include:
• Submission Fee of $15.00 per script (checks must be made out to MultiStages).
• SASE for notification only, or SASE for script return and notification.
• Up-to-date Resume.
• Send 2 title pages (one with title only, one including title and author’s information).
• All scripts must be in 3-hole folders (NOT spiral bound) and typed in play format. Specify any multidisciplinary information for the judges that is not written in the script. DO NOT include your name on every page; this is a blind contest.
If plays do not fit into or follow these guidelines they will be disqualified.
If you have new work that fits into this collaborative multidisciplinary genre, please submit it to: Lorca Peress, Artistic Director, MultiStages, 344 West 87th Street, New York, NY 10024. Thank you, and Good Luck!
