ALEXANDRA BILLINGS is a powerhouse of a performer. In BEFORE I DISAPPEAR:
An Autobiography in Story and Song she tells a story that is hers and hers
alone. From a tortured little boy who couldn't find a way to fit in to a
drug-addicted prostitute and a transgender with AIDS, she takes you along
the roller coaster of her life in a mesmerizing blend of anecdotes, drama,
and song. The journey is brutal and savage, poignant and vulnerable,
refreshingly and disturbingly honest, and ultimately inspirational and
triumphant.
Luckily Billings is as talented as her story is unique. Taking
on an array of characters, she perfectly executes the personalities and the
emotions of a mother trying to cope, a jaded hooker, a violent pimp, a teenage
boy, a excruciatingly cheerful nurse on an AIDS ward, and a multitude of others.
And if that's not enough, her pantomime is sublime and her voice is amazing.
