"1966" THE RESURRECTION CONCERT attempts to recreate the aura of the 1966 club circuit by channeling the music and energy of The Doors through a live band and a sextet of shimmering and shimmying go go dancers. Whether or not the performance reasonably recreates the original is not for me to say from first hand experience.
The crowd seemed to groove to the vibe, and of course the music is already a hit. The band, also called 1966, did a decent job of invoking the spirit, but even my limited exposure to raw footage tells me there will never be, especially without that particular combination of upbringing, timing and pharmaceuticals, a front man like Jim Morrison. So, where does that leave "1966" THE RESURRECTION CONCERT? Squarely in the realm of retro; and that is not necessarily a bad thing.
